Kevin Millar slammed a homerun and had 5 RBI at McAfee Coliseum as the San

Millar was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors.  He smashed a two-run homer (his 9th of
the season) in the 1st inning and doubled emptying the bases in the 6th
inning.  San Diego had 13 hits overall, while Oakland had 4.  

Doug Davis(10-16) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. John
Maine(0-3) took the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings.

Right fielder Brian Giles left the yard as the San Diego Black Sox beat the
hopeless Oakland Diamond Kings in 11 innings by a score of 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  San Diego came out
on top in the 11th inning.  Scott Podsednik delivered a one-base hit.  After
another out, Kaz Matsui was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
Giles then smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 13th of the season).
Overall San Diego out-hit Oakland 9 to 6.  

The victory was credited to Trevor Hoffman(4-3) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. Juan Padilla earned his 2nd save.  Shingo Takatsu(0-3) was the loser in
relief.

6,394 fans were treated to a fine game at McAfee Coliseum as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The streaking San Diego Black Sox
won by the slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.

The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings.  Finally, San Diego
pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  After two outs Damian Jackson drew a
walk.  Kaz Matsui next to the plate and he tripled scoring the run.  Although
they lost, Oakland did out-hit San Diego 9 to 6.  

Trevor Hoffman(5-3) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. The
losing pitcher was Jim Brower(0-4) in relief.  He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks.

Jose Contreras(13-9) earned his pay with a solid performance for Seattle.  He
went 7 and 1/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and 2 walks.  Seattle simply wore
out the Minnesota pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.  

Jason Isringhausen earned the save, his 32nd.  Brad Penny(8-11) suffered the
loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 and 2/3 innings of work.

Minnesota jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring a
single run using 2 hits.  That scoring would be all that was needed.
Minnesota had 10 hits for the game and Seattle had 4.  

Mussina(7-11) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no
runs. Mussina got help from Joe Nathan who earned his 27th save.  The losing
pitcher was Jamie Moyer(6-3).  

'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Minnesota's manager.  Now, we just have to make this the norm

The Seattle Iron Birds defeated the Minnesota Moose by a score of 5 to 2 at
Metrodome.

Seattle had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 4 base hits.  Gary Sheffield kicked off the action when he laced a
base-knock.  Marlon Byrd got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.
Jimmy Rollins then lined a single, and an error was also committed.  Jeremy
Reed followed and he slapped a single scoring two baserunners.  After another
out, Ricky Ledee stepped in and he lashed a one-base hit scoring the final
run of the inning.  Bobby Jenks(3-3) was helped out by Chad Bradford who
pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 1st save.  

Kelvim Escobar(2-6) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and
2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Conor Jackson cracked a homer and had 3 RBI at McAfee Coliseum where the
Oakland Diamond Kings beat the Los Angeles Skyhawks 7 to 6.

Oakland came up with 4 runs in the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits.  The
big moment was provided by Jackson who brought a roar from the partisan
McAfee Coliseum fans when he doubled scoring two baserunners.  Los Angeles
threatened in the 9th but Oakland was able to put down the rally.  

The victory was credited to Casey Fossum(6-11) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Fossum got help from Shingo Takatsu who was credited with his 3rd save.
The losing pitcher was Bruce Chen(3-11).  Oakland scored big getting 6 runs
off him in 5 and 1/3 innings.  

'It was a tough one to lose' said Los Angeles' manager 'We'll get them next
time out.'

The game started off with Colorado taking the lead in the first scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  Matt Lawton led off and keyed the rally when he drew
a walk.  Jim Edmonds next to the plate and he banged out a single.  Michael
Young then ripped a base-knock bringing in a run.  Ryan Klesko stepped in and
he drew a walk to load the bases.  Hee Seop Choi came to the plate and hit a
deep fly scoring the final run of the inning.  Colorado out-hit Minnesota for
the game, 12 hits to 8.  

The win was credited to Chris Capuano(5-19) who went 5 innings allowing 5
runs. Brocail was credited with his 1st save.  Mike Mussina(7-12) was given
the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 8 hits and 5 walks
in 3 and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at Metrodome as the Colorado Gold Kings defeated
the struggling Minnesota Moose 3 to 2.

Colorado had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning with the help
of 3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Livan Hernandez started the attack as
he stroked a one-base hit.  Matt Lawton came to the plate and slapped a
base-hit.  Jim Edmonds then doubled plating a run.  After another out, Ryan
Klesko stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Hee
Seop Choi stepped into the box and drew a walk scoring the final run of the
inning.  Colorado finished with 10 hits while Minnesota ended up with 4.

The victory was credited to Hernandez(6-15) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. Mike Stanton was credited with his 2nd save.  Jason Marquis(12-14) took
the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3

Colon(14-13) was in control of the game from the outset.  He allowed just 2
hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings.  The right-handed Colon lost his chance
for a no-hitter when Desi Relaford singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.
Minnesota had 14 hits overall, while Colorado had 2.  

Kenny Rogers(17-10) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 6 innings and
surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk.

Michaels helped send the fans home happy.  He delivered a base-hit in the 1st
inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 3rd inning, slapped a single in the
4th inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 11th of the season) in the 5th inning
and delivered a one-base hit in the 6th inning.  Oakland provided plenty of
action in the 3rd inning with 6 runs on 7 hits, the 4th inning which saw them
plate 5 runs on 5 hits and the 5th inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits.
Overall Oakland out-hit San Francisco 19 to 8.  

The victory was credited to John Maine(1-3) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. David Wells(13-10) was the loser.  He allowed Oakland 7 runs
in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.

the season).  San Francisco took care of Oakland with no trouble in the
bottom of the 11th.  

Mike Timlin(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Timlin got relief help from Armando Benitez who gained credit for
his 4th save.  The losing pitcher was Chris Hammond(1-4) in relief.

One out later, Jose Castillo came up and he laced a base-knock scoring the
run.  Atlanta finished with 11 hits while Baltimore ended up with 5.  

Jay Witasick(2-3) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Witasick got
help from B.J. Ryan who earned his 37th save.  Lance Cormier(0-1) was the
loser in relief.  

With this win, Atlanta has a division leading 70-77 record.  They have been
4-6 lately.  With the loss, Baltimore has a record of 3-7 lately, 36-111,
worst in the division overall.

game, 10 hits to 7.  

The win was credited to Jake Westbrook(16-12) who went 7 and 1/3 innings
allowing 1 run. Tom Glavine(7-13) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 6
innings and surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks.

Atlanta now has a record of a division leading 71-77.  Baltimore has a record
of 36-112, worst in the division after the loss.

Graves was credited with his 6th save.  Derek Lowe(15-13) ended up with the
loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

hit.  He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 4th inning and rifled a
three-run blast (his 3rd of the season) in the 5th inning.  Both teams
totaled 10 on the afternoon.  

The win went to Felix Hernandez(7-3) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Adam
Eaton(2-8) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 2
walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

from the hometown fans when he smashed a two-run homer (his 9th of the
season).  Philadelphia threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

The victory was credited to Byung-Hyun Kim(1-15) who went 5 innings, allowing
4 runs. Danny Graves was credited with his 7th save.  Sidney Ponson(0-1) was
given the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 innings.  

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Kim said.

The win went to Brad Thompson(3-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Danny
Graves(1-3) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of

Detroit 12 to 8.  

Gary Glover(2-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. Toronto scored big getting
5 runs off him in 3 innings.

In the 7th inning Toronto went on top for good scoring one runner using 2
hits.  Detroit had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

The winning pitcher was Roger Clemens(23-7) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings.
Todd Jones got the save, his 27th.  Scott Elarton(9-10) was the loser.  He
surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.  

Detroit's manager was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is
really hard to lose this kind of a game.  It may seem weird to some, but it
is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss.  It is the ones that just
barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!'

Kevin Millwood whiffed 11 batters as the Detroit Outlaws defeated the Toronto
Sharpshooters by the score of 4 to 1 at Comerica Park.

Millwood(10-15) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He gave up just 7
hits and no walks in 8 innings.  Detroit had 11 hits for the night.

Mariano Rivera earned his 24th save.  Jake Peavy(16-8) was the losing pitcher.
Toronto's manager was upset after the game.  'I don't like to complain but
did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said.  'Maybe they ought to start
calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'

Catcher Bengie Molina had 2 base hits and Gary Glover pitched 5 strong innings
at Comerica Park as the Detroit Outlaws beat the Kansas City Monarchs in 13
innings by the count of 2 to 1.

The score was tied at 1 after nine.  Detroit was victorious in the 13th
inning.  Molina ripped a base-knock.  Henry Blanco followed and he laid down
a sacrifice bunt.  Brad Wilkerson dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out.  Omar Vizquel stepped in and he was walked intentionally.  Nook
Logan stepped into the box and singled making Detroit victorious to the
delight of the the home town crowd.  Detroit managed only 6 on the afternoon.

Glover(3-3) got the win allowing no runs in 5 innings. Jerome Williams(7-5)
was the loser in relief.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits and 1
walk.

Brad Wilkerson had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Comerica Park as the Detroit
Outlaws, running on all cylinders, ripped the Kansas City Monarchs by a large
12 to 2 margin.

Detroit set the tone of the game in the first inning when they scored 6 runs
on 4 hits.  That early scoring held up.  Detroit had 13 hits overall, while
Kansas City had 5.  

The victory was credited to Victor Zambrano(11-9) who went 8 innings, allowing
2 runs. The loss was charged to Randy Johnson(18-11).  He gave up 6 runs and
4 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

The Detroit Outlaws nipped the floundering Kansas City Monarchs 3 to 2 at
Comerica Park in a hard fought contest.

Detroit delivered all the runs required in the 4th inning with 3 runs on 2
hits.  After an out was recorded, Omar Vizquel started the attack as he
delivered a single.  John McDonald stepped into the batter's box and he drew
a walk.  After another out, B.J. Surhoff came up and he lost the ball over
the fence for three runs (his 2nd of the season).  Kansas City had a chance
to come back in the 9th but they came up short.  

Mark Hendrickson(6-17) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 6 innings.
Hendrickson got relief help from Mariano Rivera who gained credit for his
25th save.  The loss was charged to Erik Bedard(10-8).  He pitched 4 innings
and surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.

Jason Giambi hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI at Comerica Park where the
Detroit Outlaws beat the St. Louis Red Birds 4 to 1.

Detroit scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of 4 hits.
The critical plate appearance was by Giambi who made the crowd come alive
when he smashed a two-run homer (his 23rd of the season).  Detroit managed 8
in their victory.  

The win was credited to Kevin Millwood(11-15) who went 8 innings allowing 1
run. Mariano Rivera got the save, his 26th.  Greg Maddux(13-12) ended up with
the loss.

beat the St. Louis Red Birds by a score of 8 to 2.

Detroit took the lead for keeps in the 4th inning when they scored 2 runs on 1
hit.  Detroit had 10 hits overall, while St. Louis had 5.  

Jon Lieber(6-15) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Rich
Harden(12-1) ended up with the loss.  He allowed 4 hits and 5 walks in 5
innings.

The St. Louis Red Birds had very little trouble at Comerica Park downing the
Detroit Outlaws.  The score was 7 to 2.

St. Louis took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning with 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Ken Griffey Jr got things going when he drew a
walk.  After another out, J.T. Snow stepped up to the plate and he bombed a
two-run dinger (his 6th of the season).  Despite losing, Detroit out-hit St.
Louis 9 to 6.  

The win went to Mark Buehrle(14-12) who allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Victor Zambrano(11-10) was the loser.  He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 6
innings.

Third baseman Mike Lamb hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at Comerica Park where the
Detroit Outlaws beat the St. Louis Red Birds by the score of 8 to 6.

The Detroit fans enjoyed the offense provided by Lamb.  He laced a base-knock
which scored a run in the 1st inning, bombed a two-run dinger (his 6th of the
season) in the 6th inning and stroked a one-base hit which plated a run in
the 8th inning.  The St. Louis bats were silent in the 9th.  

Chris Reitsma(2-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Mariano Rivera
recorded the save, his 27th.  Luis Ayala(2-2) absorbed the loss in relief.

Right fielder Nick Swisher hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the incredible San
Francisco Sea Lions defeated the hopeless Los Angeles Skyhawks by a score of
14 to 6 at Dodger Stadium.

Swisher had a big day against Los Angeles.  He delivered a solo blast (his
15th of the season) in the 2nd inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners
in the 3rd inning.  San Francisco managed 14 in their victory.  

Josh Towers(13-4) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Jamey Wright(6-9) was the loser.  He was unable to control the San Francisco
offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Tim Hudson went 7 strong innings as the Los Angeles Skyhawks defeated the San
Francisco Sea Lions 2 to 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Hudson(12-9) put on a good performance.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits
and 1 walk in 7 innings.  San Francisco threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.  

Bob Wickman gained credit for his 32nd save.  Jeff Weaver(14-12) absorbed the
loss.  He surrendered just 2 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.

Los Angeles went ahead for good in the 6th inning plating an isolated run
using 2 hits.  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5
times.  

Jeff Harris(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Bob Wickman recorded his 33rd save.  Steve Trachsel(1-2)
suffered the loss.  He allowed 4 homeruns in 5 and 2/3 innings of work.

Jason Bay blasted 2 homeruns at Dodger Stadium as the Los Angeles Skyhawks
beat the floundering Oakland Diamond Kings in 10 innings by the count of 5 to
4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Los Angeles won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Bay
smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 39th of the season) resulting in an
exciting win for Los Angeles and a wild post-game celebration by the home
town fans.  Los Angeles had a total of 8 hits for the game.  

Chin-Hui Tsao(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Jim Brower(0-5) took the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and no
walks in 1/3 of an inning.

Designated hitter Craig Biggio left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Los Angeles
Skyhawks topped the floundering Oakland Diamond Kings by a score of 10 to 2
at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles won the game with an offensive outburst in the 8th inning when
they exploded for 8 runs on 6 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by
Aaron Hill who brought a roar from the partisan Dodger Stadium fans when he
belted a three-run homer (his 3rd of the season).  Overall Los Angeles
out-hit Oakland 13 to 10.  

Chin-Hui Tsao(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Ryan
Franklin(3-20) absorbed the loss in relief.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 1
inning.

John Maine(2-3) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Jamey Wright(6-10)
ended up with the loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 1 walk in 5 and 1/3 innings.
