Scott Olsen went 7 strong innings as the Baltimore Stars defeated the
Philadelphia Phanatics by a score of 1 to 0 at Camden Yards.

Olsen(16-5) looked very much in control throughout the night.  He gave up just
3 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.  Philadelphia had a chance to come back in
the 9th but they came up short.  

Jonathan Broxton got the save, his 31st. The loss was charged to Javier
Vazquez(14-11).  Despite the loss, he struckout 8 Baltimore batters in 5
innings.

Marlon Anderson launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the San Diego Black Sox
outscored the Oakland Oaks 9 to 7.

Anderson had a big day at the plate.  He doubled in the 5th inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 6th inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his
17th of the season) in the 8th inning.  Oakland could do no damage in the
bottom of the 9th.  

The winning pitcher was Jason Bergmann(2-3) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Bergmann was helped out by Mike Wood who recorded his 2nd save.
Ramon Ortiz(10-13) was given the loss.  He surrendered 6 runs and 8 hits in 6
innings.

The hapless San Diego Black Sox pitchers essentially took the day off at
McAfee Coliseum as the Oakland Oaks offense erupted for 10 runs while Odalis
Perez(8-8)with help from the bullpen held San Diego to 1 run.

Oakland claimed the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on
2 hits.  That early scoring held up.  Oakland out-hit San Diego for the game,
11 hits to 8.  

Paul Maholm(7-13) suffered the loss.  He gave up 7 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings
of work.

Oscar Villarreal(5-5) and John Patterson(0-7) locked horns in a pitcher's duel
with Villarreal and the Oakland Oaks coming out on top of the San Diego Black
Sox 3 to 0.

Oakland delivered all the runs required in the 6th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  After two outs Josh Willingham got things going when
he stroked a base-hit, and an error was also committed.  Ben Broussard
stepped up next and he was walked intentionally.  Adam Jones then smacked a
three-run homer (his 1st of the season).  Despite losing, San Diego out-hit
Oakland 11 to 6.  

Adam Wainwright earned his 16th save.

Ryan Spilborghs had 3 base hits as the Los Angeles Skyhawks defeated the
Oakland Oaks 2 to 1 at McAfee Coliseum.

Los Angeles tallied 2 runs in the 3rd inning when they had 3 base hits.
Hector Luna started the inning off right when he stroked a base-hit.
Spilborghs came next and he slapped a single.  Ichiro Suzuki then laced a
base-knock scoring a run.  Craig Biggio stepped in and he hit a deep fly
scoring the final run of the inning.  That was all the runs Aaron Cook(9-14)
needed.  Oakland had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

Chad Cordero got the save, his 37th.  Julian Tavarez(5-7) suffered the loss.
He surrendered 2 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings.

Craig Biggio had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Skyhawks topped the
Oakland Oaks by a score of 7 to 3 at McAfee Coliseum.

Biggio had a big day with his bat.  He smashed a solo-shot out of the park
(his 2nd of the season) in the 1st inning, ripped a base-knock in the 3rd
inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th inning and doubled which was good for two
runs in the 6th inning.  Los Angeles banged out 10 on the afternoon.  

Jason Jennings(13-12) got the win allowing no runs in 5 innings. Ramon
Ortiz(10-14) was hit with the loss.  He allowed 3 runs and 6 hits in 5
innings.

The Oakland Oaks tallied 4 runs in the 4th inning and defeated the Los Angeles
Skyhawks by a score of 7 to 3 at McAfee Coliseum.

Oakland came up with 4 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 4 hits.  The
big moment was provided by Jason Michaels who thrilled the crowd when he
rifled a three-run blast (his 12th of the season).  Both teams finished the
game with 11 hits.  

The winning pitcher was Dewon Brazelton(1-2) who allowed 3 runs in 5 and 1/3
innings. John Smoltz(23-9) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits
and 3 walks in 6 innings.

Ryan Freel cracked a homer at Comerica Park where the impressive Toronto
Sharpshooters beat the pathetic Detroit Outlaws by the score of 3 to
1.

Toronto promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating an isolated
run.  Toronto managed 8 in their victory.  

Carlos Zambrano(17-12) was the winner allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Huston
Street recorded his 14th save.  Fausto Carmona(7-2) was charged with the
loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.

Joe Saunders went 8 strong innings as the Toronto Sharpshooters defeated the
lifeless Detroit Outlaws by the score of 8 to 0 at Comerica
Park.

Saunders(4-5) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Detroit
hitters.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings
lowering his ERA to 4.19.  Detroit was out-hit by Toronto, 10 hits to 3.

Tim Corcoran(4-9) took the loss.  He allowed 6 hits and 4 walks in 2 innings.

Jake Peavy whiffed 10 batters and third baseman Wilson Betemit had 2 base hits
and 2 RBI as the phenomenal Toronto Sharpshooters outscored the dreadful
Detroit Outlaws 5 to 3.

Peavy(17-13) earned his pay with a solid performance for Toronto.  He went 6
innings surrendering 4 hits and 2 walks.  Toronto banged out 7 on the
afternoon.  

Ty Taubenheim(0-2) was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 3 innings allowing 2
hits and 2 walks. 'He was really impressive today,' Taubenheim said of his
counterpart.  'Our guys were just swinging at air.'

C.C. Sabathia came through with a solid 7 innings at Comerica Park as the St.
Louis Red Birds beat the pathetic Detroit Outlaws in 10 innings by the count
of 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  St. Louis won it in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Ken Griffey Jr lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' (his 8th of the season).  St. Louis had 9 hits for the game and
Detroit had 3.  

Darren Oliver(5-5) allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Oliver got help from Ruddy Lugo who was credited with his 1st save.
Mariano Rivera(2-4) was given the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 3
hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.

At Comerica Park the St. Louis Red Birds outscored the struggling Detroit
Outlaws 4 to 1.

Greg Maddux(16-11) gave St. Louis a solid outing.  He allowed 2 hits and 1
walk in 5 and 2/3 innings.  Detroit was set down quietly in the bottom of the
9th.  

Mike Thompson(3-11) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 2 runs and 6 hits in 8
innings.

Ken Griffey Jr went yard and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Red Birds topped the
floundering Detroit Outlaws by a score of 9 to 1 at Comerica Park.

Detroit was unable to claim the lead after St. Louis went ahead in the top of
the 2nd inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  St. Louis
finished with 11 hits while Detroit ended up with 5.  

The win went to Orlando Hernandez(7-9) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Fausto
Carmona(7-3) absorbed the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 8 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.
